H.E.L.P. – Haiti Emergency Living Pack – You can make a difference!

On March 20 Calvary Community Church will send its second mission trip to Haiti to help relieve the suffering and lift up the Haitian people and their spirituality. Our first trip was right after the earthquake and was aimed primarily at medical aid and supplies for the injured. The results were wonderful, but it was just a start.

The current mission will focus its efforts on other basic human needs – water, hygiene and shelter. This is where you can personally make a difference in the life of someone in Haiti. Supplies are needed for the team and the time is short.

H.E.L.P. – Haiti Emergency Living Pack – was introduced at the Calvary services last Sunday and many have already stepped up generously. If you were one of those individuals, thank you!!

For as little as $9.00 you can provide water purification tablets, or as much as $300 you can donate an entire Pack including a tent that will house a family of four. Please see the flyer attached to this E-mail for a full list of supplies needed for H.E.L.P. Tents must be new and waterproof, and time is critical – we must have everything at Calvary by March 7 to make the shipment.

Make a difference – H.E.L.P.: water, a mess kit, a tent or something in between. Every item received by March 7 will be used directly for someone in Haiti. Every contribution will go 100% for Haiti Relief. You can make a difference. Community World Reception Sunday 2/21

THIS SUNDAY right after each Calvary Community Church service there will be a Community World Reception where you can connect with the Haiti Response Team members AND Leaders of the Mission Trips, Community Outreach, Child Sponsorship and Missionaries. This is a great way to meet the Leaders connected with a lot of different Calvary Community World ministries

Mission Night 2010: Make It Personal Curious about missions? Join us March 4th, from 7-9pm in Room 1108 for a night of celebrating what God has done through short-term missions at Calvary over the last year and seeking Him for how we can make an impact in the year to come. Pastor Kirk Dewitt as well as Haitian Pastor Julio Volcy will be leading the evening. Come for the worship, the international food, the great stories. Just come.

Rummage Sale for Haiti. Saturday, February 20^th, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Calvary Main Parking Lot. HAITI RELIEF EFFORTS OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE:

1. WAREHOUSE CLEANUP & ORGANIZATION OF HAITI SUPPLIES STAGING AREA: CANCELLED FRIDAY NIGHT, February 12th (INSTEAD WE WILL WORK ALL DAY SATURDAY)THIS SATURDAY, February 13th 8:00AM-6:00PM. Just show up anytime Calvary Community Church Warehouse Doors to Far Right of Main Entrance

This is a labor intensive job but very necessary to clean out the Calvary Warehouse to make space for both the storage of Supplies for the Haiti Relief Efforts as well as a staging/sorting area for supplies. Please wear work clothes, closed toed shoes and bring work gloves if you have them.

3. GO ON A FUTURE MISSIONS TRIP TO HAITI:

Over the next 12-18 months we plan to coordinate multiple Short Term Mission Trips to work with an Orphanage in Haiti. Want to help with Haiti Relief?

Now that our first team has returned from Haiti, our goal is to send additional teams in the next couple of months, but we are prayerfully considering and diligently working on a long-term plan to be most effective in our relief efforts in Haiti.

We are coordinating with contacts on the ground in Haiti to see what types of teams and supplies they most need next, as well as the logistics of where the teams will stay and what the teams will be able to most effectively accomplish.

We understand there are many people who have a heart to go to Haiti and we want to balance that with the ever-changing needs of the Haitian people, the practical logistics of getting people/supplies into and out of Haiti, the ability to be most effective in Haiti when we are there and, most importantly, God’s timing. If you want to donate supplies, go on a future team, or are interested in opportunities to serve now as we prepare for future Haiti Response efforts, please contact haitirelief@calvarycc.org or 818.575.2220. If you are already on the Future Team list, Chandra will keep you posted on developments as they occur.
