We have been in Jerusalem for a day and a half and have already seen so much. Here’s our team in the heart of Hezekiah’s tunnel. We had a faith stretching experience walking through this dark engineering wonder. Sometimes knee deep in water, we sang, joked, laughed, and sauntered our way out to the Pool of Siloam – remember the stories about it? We also visited and prayed at the Western Wall – it was hot and a very moving experience. We also toured the Temple Tunnels – where they are excavating the original old city. We saw the original foundation of Herod’s Western Wall – the 600 ton, 13.5 meters (think city bus) and the uncovered original stones that the Romans threw off the top of the Wall in 70 AD. We saw the Upper Room and David’s tomb and a ceremonial bath believed to be the baptismal for the newly converted Christians after Pentecost. An amazing and very full day. We’re tired and ready for sleep…more tomorrow!

The camp continues to run smooth as the number of kids increases. They speak very little English and we speak even less Arabic so we communicate through actions mostly. There are also a group counselors from here, and a translator who help us out. As the week progressed we have gotten closer with the kids. I think they are feeling more comfortable with us and are enjoying us more and more. Today was the second to last day of the camp and we spent the day at the pool. The pool we went to is the one at our hotel, it also serves as the community pool. Tomorrow is our last day at the camp as well as in Palestine. When the camp ends in the afternoon we will move to Jerusalem. Thank you for your prayers.

Day 3 of the summer camp has been huge success! Many of the kids and their families throughout the community may have heard of the spectacular activities and affects the camp had on the initial attendees of the camp and registered their kids for the remainder of the camp. With that said, the number of registered kids for the summer camp from the first day has doubled! Word definitely travels fast within this great community and, most importantly, we definitely would like to thank you all for your prayers.
Kids in line for the beginning of the day

Here we are safely installed in country. We had our first day with the kids this morning. Everything went very well! There is some fear locally about Americans bringing a virus, and fears have been heightened (other Americans have infected 2 kids and news has spread). Because of this fear, fewer kids than anticipated have joined the camps. Some parents believed that camp was canceled – so we hope to have increased enrollment tomorrow.

Please pray for increase in kids coming to camp – fears to be alleviated. Pray that God brings whom He would bring. Also pray for team health – there’s been some mild sickness spreading throughout the team.

Pray that we’d be unified and unwavering in our mission and focus.

We love you and are grateful for your prayers and support.
